Converse Skateboarding CONS CTS High Perf

Converse re-tooled their flagship Chuck Taylor model with skaters in mind. The final product of this project is the CONS CTS High. The alterations to the classic mostly concern padding and are welcomed to say the least. Those of you who’ve ever worn Chuck Taylors know that raw canvas does not protect ankles. The latest edition of this model is the CONS CTS High Perf which is anticipated to drop in both black and white colorways comprised of perforated leather. Currently these sneakers are slated for a Spring/Summer 2010 release so, no worries, you still have time to stack up and skate out your current kicks before you cop these.

ALIFE 2009 Fall The Toxic & The Shepard Sneakers

Fall 2009 offers a good variety of new styles from ALIFE, including updated versions of their The Toxic and The Shepard chukka-style sneakers. While The Shepard is featured in toned down worn premium leather uppers, The Toxic is highlighted by the use of translucent blue-green midsoles amongst two suede color schemes. Married to the Mob 2009 Fall Collection feat. Teyana Taylor

Womens streetwear label Married to the Mob unveil the first delivery of their new Fall collection. The lookbook, starring Star Trak’s Teyana Taylor, features a wide variety of vibrant looks, showcasing the brand’s urban appeal and New York swagger. A release within their online store can be expected for next week.

Air Jodan Spizike Boot

The Spizike Boot features an upper very closely modeled on the original Spizike, reworked with a reinforced ‘boot body’ and midsole. Maintaining some of the key Jordan fusion elements from original sneakers, such as the triangular lace holders (from the Jordan 4), the lace lock and mesh (from the Jordan 5), and the tongue of the (Jordan 6). The upper mixes nubuck and other leathers, with pieces textured to imitate the now-classic elephant print. The outsole is blue with light speckling, a common theme among the Jordan fusion series. The heel sports the likeness of Spike Lee’s iconic character “Mars Blackmon”, most well-known in the sneaker world for being the pitch-man for Air Jordan commercials in the early 90’s. This Flint-grey/Cherrywood/Nightshade colourway is set to drop at House of Hoops stores in December.

With rappers from Lords of the Underground, Joe Buddens, Naughty by Nature, Red and Method man in the past/present, Vas Anglin hails to become the future of Jersey Hip-Hop and eventually hit a national scale. DBK: Tell us about yourself and what you currently do? (Age, educational background, hobbies)
VA: I’m 21, currently working at Sound A Rama (Rahway’s local record shop). For as long as I can remember music was a passion I had so I wanted to make it a reality. Following high school I decided to go to The Institute of Audio Research. That was the turning point for it all; they broke down everything from the music to the business side also. Since then I have been working on my sound & new material wherever I find inspiration.

DBK: What makes you different from everyone in your field?

VA: With everything I do I try to fill a void. Though much of my work has been sample based thus far I try to bridge the generation gap & show my appreciation to those that paved the way. When I sit down with an artist it’s never the same. My main goal is to help them paint a picture where our medium is the music. .

DBK: What made you start? (skateboarding, bike riding, DJing, rapping etc.)

VA:Growing up I had friends that were into the skating more than I was; hanging out with them I began that. Shortly there after I got into the music and been here ever since. I’d say about three going on four years now.

DBK: Who is the biggest influence in your life?

VA: Aside from my mother because she was a single parent showing me there was always a way out. I’d have to say anyone I’ve met or anyone I meet that is striving to make a difference. The few that stand out to blend in.

DBK: What big names have you have worked with in the past?

VA: St Joe Louis (formerly Prizm), Kay M (106 & park’s Freestyle Friday grand champ), Broken English, Rewmec, & Nucci Reyo

DBK: What does Dirty Backpack Krew mean to you?

VA: With the upbeat urban look, its trendy for starters but it’s a way of life. It’s like the perfect blend between good taste & futuristic raw expression for me being the rebel that I am.
