Artist to look for May 19th 2010 DBK Showcase

Who is RewMec?

An Emcee, performer, songwriter, crooner, a jack of many trades to say the least. Trades that over the years he has come to master, with such a particular level of detail and grace, that it appears natural. From his commanding presence and somewhat "territorial" performance style, to his "organic sound", there is a raw talent that shines through louder than the actual voice on the smooth toned rapper himself. Newark, New Jersey artist Andrew "RewMec" Burrowes, 23, has slowly made strides through the local underground scene with his uncanny "form-fitting" flow that always appears to be tailor made to the well structured production he tends to use. With an edge of one straight out of poverty, coupled with a vocabulary fit for Princeton, RewMec expresses himself with a style that is best described as "articulately gritty". With heavy influence from the Neo-Soul movement and mid 90's Hip-Hop culture, this east coast rhymer provides listeners with a rooted sound that never branches away from being relevant in delivery and in content; a quality trait which has garnered him much respect among his fellow Tri-State peers. Currently sponsored by Division East, located in Montclair NJ, RewMec has recently released a short preview of the many things to come in 2010. "She Made Me Do It LP -Sampler-", which is currently available for download on his myspace, has grabbed the attention of rising underground emcees such as GDP (Say-10 Records/ Division East) and Daniel Joseph (High Water Music). Backed by a music career that only dates back circa 2006, we can only imagine how the future will season an artist so ahead of his time! -

JAY-Z'S TURNS DOWN FAT BOY FOR M&Ms

This poor kid tried to sell Jay-Z some M&Ms and Jay didn't want any. Now some people are all pissy at Jay, but I have a theory on this. Jay-Z was caught totally off guard that a human of regular proportions got that close to him that he was thrown totally off guard. His first response to the question was, "no," because that's what people do. I always say no to those dudes when I get asked, because that my first instinct. So, that's my theory on Jay-Z right now. LOL!
